French designer Thibault Philip often takes a bold and radical stance toward the materials he works with. He creates sculptures at the intersection of art and design, as well as domestic objects and contemporary art installations. He studied at EESAB in Rennes, graduating in 2021, and during his studies he interned with Marlène Huissoud in Paris and Nacho Carbonell in Eindhoven.

Thibault Philip gives leftover intestine usually destined for industrial sausage production, a new life as light objects. He pushes the possibilities of the material to the limit, choosing a slow and dedicated making process to transform woven intestine threads and and dyed intestine leaf into a design that appears fragile yet deliberate. His work draws inspiration from ancient andvforgotten crafts, such as those of Inuit and Sub-Saharan communities, while also evoking associations with stained glass or a bird’s nest. The light sculpture is dyed with cuttlefish ink and madder, casting a soft, warm glow.
