Materia Futura is an experimental design and research project founded by Alessia Pasquini en Beatriz Sandini, later joined by XR-designer Paulina Martina. Together, they merge expertise in material innovation, biobased design, and digital environments to envision sustainable futures. Alessia, an Italian designer and consultant, explores bio-based materials through craft and design research. Beatriz, a Brazilian-born designer and researcher, investigates regenerative systems and experimental practices. Paulina, a fashion technologist and educator, specializes in AR/XR, bridging craftsmanship and innovation.

Materia Futura creates a new language for sustainable materials, where nature, technology, and craft converge. With their iridescent, glossy and brightly coloured biopolymers, they prove that sustainability does not have to look rough or understated. Materia Futura invites you to enter a world where biomaterials are sensory, playful and emotionally engaging, and to collaborate with the living systems around us and create materials that are both aesthetic and nature-inclusive. Complementing the 3D materials, an XR experience immerses you in a world where digital and physical seamlessly merge.
